I just wanted to give a little update on what is happening with the Union's Relay for Life Team

First lets not forget that the Bay Area Relay for Life will be held April 8th and 9th, at Stallworth Stadium, here in Baytown. Last year the BayArea Relay was for the 4th year in a row, the number 1 Relay in the state of Texas.

We are extremely excited about "SURFING FOR A CURE" at this years Relay.  As of today we have raised $2,200.25.   We have 19 team members and we have sold $320.00 in luminaries. That is just a little short of our $500.00 goal.  The deadline for luminaries is April 1st so its not too late to buy one.

We have done well with our fundraisers considering that we have not had much participation from our members.  With a membership as large as ours you would think that our total amount raised would be much higher.  Lets do some math,  if each of our 916 members donated $10.00 we would have already raised $9,160.00 that amount would not include the outside donations that we receive.  But listen, its not too late. Relay is 24 days away and you still have time to make a contribution.

If you have not been affected by cancer in your life, odds are that someday you will, whether it be you personally, a loved one or a dear friend, so please, I urge you to sit down and make a check payable to the American Cancer Society, bring it by the hall or mail it to my attention to PO Box 3977, Baytown, Texas 77522.  You can also make a donation right here from your computer by logging onto www.bayarearelay.org  Locate PACE 4-2001 in the list of teams. Make that donation that will help in cancer awareness and in research.

In addition to the cookbook compiled of recipes from our members and friends we have a cookbook with the same cover that you can use to write your own recipes in and it sells for $3.00
